Ahhhhhhhh DELTA!

Since I am clearly not completely over the most fun time ever college, this year I was chairman for the Dallas Tri Delta Alumnae group’s Founders’ Day luncheon. (If you’re confused, we basically put on our pearls and pins, have lunch, and praise our founders, Sarah Ida and Eleanor Dorcas… some candles and giggling might be involved too.) Being the event control-freak that I am, I took it upon myself to not outsource anything. I designed the invitations, had them printed, stuffed all 400, designed programs, menus and table cards, and arranged the centerpieces. Because, like I told myself, “it’s just easier that way.” I might be insane, but at least it all came out exactly as I had envisioned!

This was my inspiration board – I wanted to use more modern colors (goodbye hunter green, it’s not 1994 anymore…just don’t tell Sarah Ida), and keep the invitations formal while incorporating a more youthful design. I choose three colors from the Fall 2010 Pantone Color Report and the classic Imperial Trellis design. I found some fabulous floral inspiration on Style Me Pretty that tied all of my colors together.

Et Voila! I was so happy with how everything turned out. I had the invitations, rsvp cards, and programs printed on pearlescent white card stock, which dressed them up just enough. My sweet mom helped me arrange all fourteen centerpieces and four bouquets. I used green, pale peach and pink roses, white hydrangeas, green and burgandy hydrangeas, green trick, green and cocoa hypericum berries, and pink pepper berries. I got a box of sheet moss and surrounded each table arrangement with moss and votives for a more natural look – I really think it made the world of difference in a pretty, but generic, ball room, plus it’s cheap as can be! For a finishing touch, I added a menu and table number card to each centerpiece. The hotel even put gold chargers at each place setting at the last minute, which added some elegance to the tables and coordinated perfectly with the color scheme. What do you think, readers?!
