Mark Sikes and Michael Griffin in House Beautiful

December 7, 2011

Have you all read the latest issue of House Beautiful (Dec/ Jan)? If not, go get one for yourself stat. The Holllywood home of Mark Sikes and Michael Griffin is featured, and omg is it gorgeous. I know these images have been circulating blog land lately, but I just had to talk about it too, because this home truly embodies the Deux Maisons aesthetic. So many of our favorite finishings, fixtures, and accessories (like the tortoise table and horn boxes above) are used in this house it’s insane. Let’s chat about it, shall we?

In the entry alone we find a lantern chandelier, classic pedestal table, and a black front door. Not to mention the doodles – french market bag, coral, and an impression-making arrangement of simple greenery.

The living room features huge windows with airy drapes that make the room incredibly open and sun-drenched. The zebra rug, rattan chairs, and chinese garden stool and just the right amount of ethnic flair. I’m also loving that huge armoire in dramatic black – quite a lovely contrast to the neutral upholstery.

Oh the dining room just about kills me with the aqua De Gournay wallpaper. The gold and crystal chandelier and wallpaper keeps the room formal, but the seating and window coverings maintain a casual, livable vibe. And I obviously love the blue and white vases against the aqua walls (I have the same thing going on in my foyer, alas without the De Gournay).

One of the kitchens of my dreams. White cabinets, floors, and carrara marble counters. Blue and white accents, silver based hurricanes, and interesting seating in the breakfast area. All good. The amazing natural light doesn’t hurt, either.

A fabulous bedroom that balances masculine and feminine touches. The contrast of black walls and luxurious white bedding jazzed up with fab pillows is perfection. Layered rugs, canopied bed, an Hermes blanket and plenty of reading material add coziness without granniness.

All of the bathrooms look incredible. I can’t decide if I like the striking black beadboard or blue and white tile better. Lucky for them, they don’t have to decide.

Just some more awesome accessories. I need that shell and turquoise bowl in my life.

And finally, check out this courtyard. Antique bricks, ivy climbing the walls, minimal but tasteful landscaping, we die.

So who wants to move right on in with us?
