Thanksgiving at the Ranch

My ultimate Thanksgiving dream is to host at our fabulous ranch in the Texas hill country. No, the ranch doesn’t exist at the moment, but if it did, I’d want the living area to look something like this – Thom Filicia’s country house featured in Domino. I love the balance of rustic and modern – the deer mount, antlers, and wide plank wood floors are an obvious choice for a ranch house but the streamlined furnishings keep the room up to date. I love those chairs. Yes and yes to the cozy nook and deep blue doors also.

This is quite the bar setup – hugest bar cart ever! Love the stone floors and glass fishing floats. Everything (including that awesome lamp) pops against the black window panes.

We would set a casual table with lots of navy and orange. The menu would include a fried or smoked turkey, chorizo jalapeno cornbread dressing for a Texas touch, pan roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta and shallots, sweet potato – yukon gold gratin, and cranberry sauce. Oh wait, that’s my menu anyway, at least part of this dream is real!

After dinner we’d cozy up in the library – except there would need to be a TV for the Cowboys and UT games. I like that the leather couch and plaid ottoman are jazzed up with some graphic pillows. And who says you can’t hang a rifle as “art” when you also display the covers of what is obviously a very impressive coffee table book collection. (at least I think that’s what is happening on the bookcase…)

And in the powder bath, why not hang some extra antlers above the marble-topped vanity? It’s a ranch after all, no need for mirrors!

What’s your Thanksgiving dream, readers?
