Party Trick: Fresh Figs with Goat Cheese & Honey

July 27, 2010

by Emily

Sometimes the most refreshing, enjoyable recipes are the simplest of creations.  This lovely little combination is completely uncomplicated and literally calls for three ingredients (ok, four, if you include a little pepper).  Have I mentioned before that I adore no fuss?  Wouldn’t this be the perfect little pre-dinner ditty with a glass of Champagne or Rosé?  I love how the figs look so darling, dressed up with a little bit of goat cheese and honey.  I expect these little guys will make a cameo, along with some bubbles (perhaps pink ones), and some silly tunes before the next girls’ night out.

Fresh Figs with Goat Cheese & Honey
recipe found on Epicurious.com

1/4 cup honey
12 fresh figs
1/4 cup soft fresh goat cheese

Starting at stem end, cut each fig into quarters, stopping 1/2 inch from bottom to leave base intact. Gently press figs open. Spoon 1 teaspoon cheese into center of each fig.
Arrange figs on serving dish and drizzle with honey.

Note:  Although I do no prefer pepper, Epicurious recommends adding 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper to the honey before drizzling.
